To create your very own candle using old candle stubs and tools you already have at home, you will need:
Ingredients:
Old candle stubs or leftover wax
A wick (can also be a cotton string or any other type of slow burning wood)
Essential oils (optional)
Tools:
A double boiler or a heat-safe bowl and a pot
A candle container or a mold
A stirring tool
A clothespin or pencil to hold the wick in place
Instructions:
1. Clean your old candles. Remove any remaining wick or metal pieces from the wax.
2. Set up your double boiler or heat-safe bowl over a pot of water. Add the wax and allow it to melt on low heat.
3. While the wax is melting, prepare your candle container. Attach the wick to the bottom of the container using a little bit of melted wax. Use a clothespin or pencil to hold the wick in place.
4. Once the wax is melted, you can add a few drops of essential oil if you want a scented candle.
5. Carefully pour the melted wax into the container, making sure not to displace the wick.\
6. Let the candle cool and then wait till the wax hardens. Once it's completely cooled, you can trim the wick to about 1,5 to 2 cm.
And there you go! You have your very own homemade, recycled candle!
